Six junior high football players from Colorado will play in the Football University Youth All-American Bowl today in San Antonio.
Christian McCaffrey of Castle Rock, one of four sons of Broncos great Ed McCaffrey, returns to the game after being named MVP last year as a seventh-grader. Joining him will be running back Isaiah Bergner, offensive tackle Chukwumah Obinnah and defensive tackle Cole Navarro of Denver, linebacker Hayden Porter of Centennial and linebacker Quinn VandeKoppel of Castle Rock on the West squad.
The event showcases the top 140 middle school players in the nation. The games will be webcast on: .
Stealth stings Mammoth.
The Colorado Mammoth has some work to do on offense if its season opener is any indication. The Washington Stealth downed Colorado 17-8 in a National Lacrosse League game in Everett, Wash.
Colorado was blanked in the first quarter and trailed 6-3 at halftime. Jamie Shewchuck had four goals for the Mammoth. Ilja Gajic added two goals.
