FORT MORGAN, Colo.—New-home construction in unincorporated Morgan County has fallen for the third straight year.

County officials say the number of building permits fell 44 percent last year. The total was down 34 percent in 2008 and 40 percent in 2007.

Thirteen permits for site-built houses were issued in Morgan County last year, 11 of them for unincorporated areas and two for the city of Fort Morgan.

Neither of the towns of Brush and Wiggins issued home construction permits last year.

Four permits were issued for manufactured homes in unincorporated Morgan County last year.
