DETROIT — General Motors is moving ahead with plans to close its Swedish Saab brand, chief executive Ed Whitacre said Monday. While GM for days had signaled that a deal to save Saab was unlikely, potential bidders and the Swedish government hoped the automaker would reconsider offers submitted late last week. GM on Friday hired an outside firm to liquidate the brand. Dow Jones Newswires
