DENVER—A Denver woman has pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death in her 2-year-old’s son scalding death.

Twenty-four-year-old Isela Reyes-Talamantes faces 10 to 32 years behind bars at a sentencing hearing set for March 19. She originally was charged with first-degree murder, but that charge was dismissed in exchange for her plea.

Prosecutors say Elijah Archuleta died shortly after being taken to a hospital with severe burns late Nov. 7, 2008.

Reyes-Talamantes’ boyfriend, John Vigil, is fighting charges of first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death in the case.
