Officials have identified a 19-year-old man who was injured early Wednesday after leading deputies on a high-speed chase in Larimer County that ended when he crashed near Ted’s Place.
Tristan Cuddon of the LaPorte area was on probation and driving with a license that had been revoked for alcohol violations, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said today in a release.
The incident started just after midnight when a deputy approached a vehicle on Larimer County Road 56 east of Taft Hill Road “parked in a place where cars usually aren’t parked,” a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.
The deputy wanted to talk to the man in the vehicle but he refused and drove off.
The deputy pursued the vehicle, which “reached speeds of 100 mph” on U.S. Highway 287, the spokeswoman said.
The vehicle crashed near Ted’s Place in the foothills west of Fort Collins about one minute after the deputy turned on his lights and sirens.
Cuddon was taken by helicopter to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland with non-life-threatening injuries. Updated information about his condition was not available today.
The sheriff’s office said a small amount of marijuana was found in Cuddon’s vehicle.
