Sean Menke, who guided Frontier Airlines through its 17-month-long successful journey through bankruptcy, has resigned from Republic Airways.
Republic also announced today that it would consolidate all of its executive management positions in its Indianapolis headquarters.
Republic acquired Frontier on Oct. 1 and Milwaukee-based Midwest Airlines on July 31 and has been integrating the two carriers into its organization.
A press release issued this morning announced that Menke, 41, “has made the personal decision to resign from the organization.”
Menke, who was named executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Republic’s branded operations, will remain in the position through early April.
“Sean and his team did a wonderful job of leading Frontier through an 18-month-long bankruptcy,” Republic chief executive Bryan Bedford said in a statement.
“We were very fortunate to have had the benefit of his expertise over the last several months and wish him the best of luck wherever his career path takes him,” Bedford said.
Menke, who recently was named The Denver Post’s Business Person of the Year for 2009, could not be reached immediately to determine his future plans.
In the statement, Menke said, “It has been my pleasure to work with Bryan and the rest of the Republic team to ensure that Frontier is positioned to both persevere and expand upon what Frontier employees have worked so hard to build over the past few years.”
