A homicide victim found dead early Wednesday inside an SUV in an Aurora parking lot has been identified as William Harvey, 44, of Denver.
Detective Bob Friel, spokesman for the department, said that Aurora police received a call about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and the first officer on the scene located the man, checked on his condition and found that he had been fatally shot.
Friel said Harvey was found in a white SUV with its motor running.
Detectives from the department’s Major Crime Unit and members of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to the Cottonwood Trail Apartment complex where Harvey’s body was found, said Friel.
Friel said officers and detectives canvassed the area, collected evidence, interviewed a number of people and began tracking down leads.
Arapahoe County coroner Mike Doberson, who performed the autopsy on the victim, said Harvey was shot once in the head.
Both Doberson and Friel said Harvey’s death is a homicide.
Police are still attempting to determine who shot Harvey.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Warren Miller at 303-739-6117.
