Support the victims of the Haiti earthquake — and listen to great local music.
Every little bit counts. With the that the Red Cross’ text messaging-based donation program has collected more than $8 million — via individual $10 texts that read HAITI to 90999, which are then attached to contributors’ cell phone bills — comes good news from the Denver music community.
A show at the Meadowlark on Saturday night is now a fundraiser, with all profits going to .
The bill is a great Denver outing, including sets from , , , , Megaphon and .
“We were already promoting the show, but we decided to make it a benefit after hearing about all the horrible stuff going on in Haiti right now,” said David Kurtz, president of , a local label that represents a couple of the acts on the bill.
Admission will be $6, but any donations above and beyond that will be taken and donated to the UNICEF fund.
“Each of the bands will also be encouraging people to donate via text messaging, too,” Kurtz said.
