PORTLAND, Ore. — Melvin Jones scored a game-high 18 points to lead Portland State to an 85-69 victory over Northern Colorado on Friday night.
Dominic Waters scored 16 points for the Vikings (8-9, 3-2 Big Sky), and Julius Thomas had 15 off the bench. Jamie Jones added 11 points and 13 rebounds for Portland State, which beat Northern Colorado for the 11th straight time and snapped the Bears’ six-game winning streak.
Will Figures led Northern Colorado (15-4, 4-2) with 12 points.
Portland State jumped to a 12-2 advantage and never trailed. It put the game away early in the second half with a 16-5 run and led 58-42 with 12:46 to play after Jones connected on a 3-pointer.
Northern Colorado never got closer than eight the rest of the way.
Colorado Mines 73, Adams State 63
ALAMOSA — Drew Hoffman broke a 57-57 tie with a 3-pointer with 4:33 left, then Brett Green followed with another, and the Orediggers were able to hold off the Thunderwolves down the stretch. Each team blew a nine- point lead, Mines in the first half, the Thunderwolves in the second.
Metro State 97, New Mexico Highlands 79
LAS VEGAS, N.M. — The Roadrunners started the game with 11 straight points and led by 21 at halftime.
Reggie Evans took 29 of Metro’s 61 shots — and made 17 as he scored 40 points.

Adams State 57, Colorado Mines 54
ALAMOSA — Kendra Coveal’s layup with 2:03 left gave Adams State a 53-48 lead, and Mines’ Angie Charchalis answered with a 3-pointer to cut the lead to four points, but the Orediggers could not muster a rally.
Metro State 68, New Mexico Highlands 55
LAS VEGAS, N.M. — Jasmine Cervantes and Chelsea Williamson each scored 16 points to lead the Roadrunners, who rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit.
Mines took the lead with 6:05 left on a jumper by Brandi Valencia. Metro outrebounded Highlands 42-28, led by Kristin Valencia’s 11.
