HOUSTON — ConocoPhillips, the third-largest U.S. oil company, expects its refining and marketing business to post a loss in the fourth quarter in part because of reduced plant usage.
The company’s average worldwide crude-refining capacity utilization rate was in the “upper-70-percent range,” ConocoPhillips said Tuesday in a statement. The rate a year earlier was 93 percent.
