
Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette was closed Wednesday morning after a suspicious package was found on the west side of campus, according to school district officials.
Students and staff were evacuated to the east side of the campus while Lafayette police and Boulder County’s bomb squad investigated a “very large” duffel bag that a school employee found in the parking lot, according to Lafayette police Cmdr. Mark Battersby.
Police cleared the campus at 800 Merlin Drive just before 10 a.m., and parents can now pick up their children, according to the school’s Web site, .
Investigators found a variety of things inside the duffel bag, including a Kermit the Frog doll, which appeared to have blood stains on it, Battersby said.
