Through 12 games, Fairview senior guard Darragh O’Neill, right, the leading scorer in Class 5A boys basketball, was about as good a prep free-throw shooter as Colorado has seen in years. He was an almost-automatic 113-of-121, better than 93 percent. Inexplicably, O’Neill made only 1-of-4 against Thornton last Friday as the Front Range League opened, then was 7-of-7 against Monarch on Tuesday to return to form. But the misses didn’t hamper his sense of humor. “I know,” O’Neill said, smiling and shaking his head when discussing his performance against Thornton. “Let’s just say that in the last two games, I’m 8-of-11.”
