The Colorado Eagles scored three goals in the first period Sunday and defeated the host Amarillo Gorillas 6-2 in a Central Hockey League game.
Adam Hogg scored the first goal, then Jim Jackson and Ryan Tobler scored just nine seconds apart. The quick strikes tied a franchise record for fastest pair of goals, done two other times.
The win snapped a five-game road losing streak, which tied a franchise record.

It was the outdoor recreation opportunities in Fort Collins, not Colorado State’s new indoor practice facility, that swayed 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive tackle John Froland to switch his commitment from Northwestern to CSU.
Froland, of Snohomish, Wash. (about 30 miles north of Seattle), is ranked at three stars on .
He is the second CSU recruit who originally committed to a school from an automatic qualifying BCS conference. Earlier, quarterback Pete Thomas switched from Arizona State to the Mountain West school.
