LOVELAND — The Colorado Corn Growers Association at a banquet this week honored its legislators of the year: Sen. Mary Hodge, D-Brighton, and Rep. Jerry Sonnenberg, R-Sterling.

Racquetball. Squash. Squash. Racquetball. Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry, a racquetball player himself, kept mixing up the sports when the Senate on Wednesday honored Hashim Khan, regarded by many as the best squash player in the world.
Khan, who was born in a part of India that later became Pakistan, now lives in Colorado.

“I don’t miss it like I thought I would, but I do miss the parking space.”
Former Sen. Jim Isgar, a federal ag director, who visited the Capitol on Wednesday
Friends around the campfire, and everybody’s high.
Lawmakers noted that former Sen. Bob Hagedorn, an Aurora Democrat who helped make John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High” a state song, now is dealing with another kind of high: medical marijuana.
“From a song to a bong,” joked Sen. Bill Cadman, R-Colorado Springs.
