DENVER—The Democratic race for the U.S. Senate in Colorado is picking up.

Sen. Michael Bennet was endorsed Saturday by The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund. Tony Massaro, the group’s senior vice president, says Bennet has supported bringing clean-energy jobs to Colorado and making the country less dependent on foreign oil.

Bennet’s primary rival, former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, said Friday he was hiring four new consultants. They include Joe Trippi, who used Internet fundraising to propel Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign.

Bennet was appointed to the seat last year after Ken Salazar left to become Interior secretary.
