Free tax preparation for families earning less than $49,000 will be offered beginning today in Denver and Aurora.
The Denver Asset Building Coalition, an anti-poverty resource and advocacy organization, said Friday that taxes can be filed electronically after work and on weekends. Taxpayers can expect refunds within seven to 10 business days. Appointments are not required at either DABC Free Tax SuperSite.
The group is also offering extra help for people who may qualify for the earned income tax credit.
“The EITC can provide eligible families with as much as $5,657 in additional income,” said coalition executive director John Russell. “Unfortunately, many Coloradans don’t realize they are eligible for the EITC and fail to file their returns, and millions of dollars go unclaimed each year.”
