ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Anaheim Ducks signed Jonas Hiller to a four-year contract extension that will keep the goalie around through the 2013-14 season.
The team wouldn’t disclose the terms of the contract announced Saturday.
The 27-year-old Hiller, who will play for Switzerland at the Vancouver Olympics, was slated to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
He’s posted a 54-37-5 record with a 2.46 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 108 career NHL appearances with the Ducks.
Hiller is 21-15-1 this season with a 2.75 GAA and .916 save percentage in 39 appearances.
Capitals’ Green suspended.
Washington defenseman Mike Green was suspended three games for elbowing Panthers forward Michael Frolik in the head.
Green delivered the hit in the first period of Friday night’s 4-1 win over the Panthers. Frolik was not seriously injured and Green was given a minor penalty for elbowing on the play.
Green will lose more than $81,000 in pay with the money going to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
Senators’ Foligno out 6-8 weeks.
Ottawa left wing Nick Foligno will be out six to eight weeks after breaking his right leg against the Canadiens.
Foligno was struck by Montreal defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron’s slap shot with about six minutes remaining in the third period of Ottawa’s 3-2 overtime victory on Saturday. He left the game and did not return.
