OMAHA, Neb.—An Omaha man has been arrested following a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 57-year-old bicyclist.
Omaha police say 19-year-old Tomas De La Cruz-Prado is suspected of motor-vehicle homicide, leaving the scene of an injury accident, drunken driving and driving without a license.
Police say De La Cruz-Prado was driving the pickup that hit Jose Sandoval as he crossed the street on his bike about 9:45 a.m. Saturday. De La Cruz-Prado allegedly fled the scene, but was later arrested at his home.
Sandoval was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
De La Cruz-Prado was being held Saturday at the Douglas County jail. It was not known whether he had an attorney.
