“Are You Listening?” ice sculpture installation, Gore Creek promenade, Vail; artinvail

Hear, hear.

The five outsized human ears along the Gore Creek promenade were sculpted from ice by Denver artist Lawrence Argent and Vail sculptor Scott Rella. At night, LED lights illuminate the ears. Until the ice melts, they’ll remain as part of Vail’s free Art in Public Places program.

Undress rehearsal.

This five-part workshop teaches men and women some burlesque history and background, how to create a character and dress in layers (meant to be removed). The final session involves a dress rehearsal to audition for Colorado Springs-based Peaks and Pasties.

Boulder-based polar explorer Eric Larsen just returned from the South Pole, completing one-third of his resolution for 2010: journey to the South Pole, the North Pole and the summit of Mount Everest within 365 days. The goal: Document the planet’s last great frozen places, promote ways to reduce carbon emissions and stop global warming. Donations suggested.
