Area fly-fishers will have an unparalleled opportunity to learn about fly-tying from the masters Feb. 13 at the 34th annual Fly Tying Clinic.
The event, sponsored by the West Denver Chapter of Trout Unlimited, is 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in the main pavilion of the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. It will feature 57 of the best fly-tyers from the Rocky Mountain region. Local experts at the clinic include John Betts, Rim Chung, Charlie Craven, Pat Dorsey and Rick Takahashi, as well as fly-tyers from Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico and Texas.
The clinic also will feature Alan Kube, named bamboo rod maker of the year for 2009; expert caster Jonathan Walter presenting free fly-casting lessons; and Dawn Blom of the Colorado Women Fly Fishers.
Adults are $10 ($2 discount coupons available at area fly-fishing shops) and kids 13 and younger are free.
Proceeds from the clinic will support the West Denver chapter’s conservation projects and education outreach programs.
