A 33-year-old Denver man with cerebral palsy is facing sexual-assault charges in the impregnation and alleged molestation of the teenage daughter of his live-in caregiver, prosecutors said Wednesday.
The woman was taking care of Steven Dale Clark, who uses a wheelchair, in exchange for living with him in his apartment in the 300 block of West Ellsworth Avenue, according to the arrest affidavit.
Police were called Friday when the girl, who is now 15, “disclosed to her mother that her pregnancy was caused by Mr. Clark,” according to the investigator’s report.
The girl told police she had never consented to sex with Clark. The assaults happened over a course of years, the Denver district attorney’s office said.
Clark faces charges of sexual assault on a child, sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, sexual assault on a child with a pattern of abuse and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust with a pattern of abuse. All of the charges are felonies. Clark is in Denver County Jail on $75,000 bail. Joey Bunch, The Denver Post
