BOULDER, Colo.—The launch of a NASA satellite that could help predict solar storms that can trigger massive electrical blackouts and communication failures on Earth has been delayed.
The Solar Dynamics Observatory, or SDO, was scheduled to lift off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Tuesday, but the launch has been moved to Wednesday.
The satellite will have instruments designed to analyze the sun’s atmosphere, its surface and interior.
The instruments were built by the University of Colorado in Boulder and Lockheed Martin in Palo Alto, Calif.
