A 54-year-old Denver man was charged Tuesday with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 42-year-old woman near East Colfax Avenue and Pearl Street in November 2000.
The work of Denver’s Cold Case Review Project and a DNA match led to the charges against Leonard Loftin, the Denver district attorney’s office said.
Prosecutors said Loftin pushed the victim to the ground and molested her before she was able to escape.
Loftin already is in the custody of the Colorado Department of Corrections. He is serving a sentence on a 2007 escape conviction.
