Unemployment checks didn’t arrive Monday morning for about 42,000 people because of a computer glitch at the state Office of Information Technology, but officials say they resolved the problem today and people should have their money.
About 50,000 people on Sunday filed for regular unemployment benefits, both online and on the phone.
A computer report, normally generated each Sunday at 10 p.m., did not run correctly for about 42,000 claims filed. Because of the computer error, Chase Bank, which provides unemployment benefits services for the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, only deposited benefits for 8,000 people.
State officials worked on the problem Monday and figured out the glitch.
“The coding error has already been fixed,” said Dara Hessee, spokeswoman for the Office of Information Technology.
Hessee said the rest of the claimants should receive unemployment deposits by late today .
