NEDERLAND, Colo.—A Nederland preschool that the state closed after a teacher was accused of sexual assault will be allowed to reopen but will be monitored for six months.

The state suspended Over the Rainbow’s child care license Jan. 29 after 38-year-old Kristen Carol Barnett was charged with sexual assault and after authorities said they found out that other teachers there had criminal records. The Colorado Department of Human Services ordered the school to lay off one of its teachers as one of the conditions for reopening.

State officials will inspect the school once a month for six months. The president of the school’s board said Tuesday they can get fully reinstated if they pass all the inspections.
