Where Olympic figure skater Rachael Flatt attends college next fall will be a huge decision. She also has another one: Whether she attends college next fall at all.

The Cheyenne Springs High senior may postpone college a year, her coach said.

“We’ve talked about taking a year off of college and seeing what the landscape of skating is,” said her coach, Tom Zakrajsek. “We’re trying not to get too much into the future.”

New York marketing experts say Flatt’s national championship is worth between $500,000 to $1 million in endorsements. Should Flatt medal at the Olympics, her marketing opportunities would increase. Flatt skates her short program Feb. 23.

“I’m not making any decisions at this point,” Flatt said in an e-mail. “I want to see what lies ahead how skating goes, as well as which schools I am accepted to. It’s going to be a fabulous year, no doubt!”
