Wrong state. Wrong party. Wrong body.
House Minority Leader Mike May shared this e-mail from a Douglas County resident:
“Dear Rep. May, as you consider Gov. Schwarzenegger’s proposed budget, I urge you to reject shortsighted schemes that would undermine California’s economic recovery and threaten our health, natural resources and communities . . . .”
Uh, Gov. Bill Ritter is Colorado’s governor.
“The guvernator is on his own!” May said, adding he’s too busy dealing with Colorado’s budget crisis to worry about California’s.
Happy 140th birthday to CSU.
Speaking of Gov. Ritter, today is Founder’s Day at the Capitol for Colorado State University, which is celebrating its 140th anniversary.
The governor, who graduated from CSU in 1978, will be dropping by the west foyer around 10 a.m. to talk to the crowd.
From cowardly to contrite
“Repentant.”
Sen. Shawn Mitchell, R-Broomfield, during roll call. Lawmakers normally say “here,” but Mitchell’s response was in connection with his “coward” outburst during a debate earlier this week.
Spell check messes up again.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Hickenlooper used to be a brewmeister. Maybe that’s why he mistakenly misspelled his chief opponent’s last name as Scott McGinnis (sounds like Guinness). It’s McInnis.
Hickenlooper, the Denver mayor, made the gaffe in a fundraising letter.
“We’ll send them a yard sign for reference,” joked McInnis’ campaign spokesman, Sean Duffy.
