The superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools, Cindy Stevenson, attended the National Conference on Education in Phoenix on Thursday night as one of four finalists for superintendent of the year.
Elizabeth Molina Morgan, of Washington County, Md., won the top award.
Stevenson won the Colorado Association of School Executives superintendent of the year award in November. The state winners were pared down to the four finalists.
Superintendent of Denver Public Schools, Tom Boasberg, said Stevenson is an excellent leader in her district and among her fellow superintendents.
“She has an incredible combination of fierce intelligence combined with a heart full of passion,” Boasberg said.
