Mickie Clayton, a legislative aide to Sen. Paula Sandoval, D-Denver, served meatballs, ravioli and pizzelles at the Capitol on Thursday in a meal that was dubbed “the last supper.”

That’s because Clayton, who serves her Italian feast every year, is retiring after 18 years of working under the gold dome.

“I don’t want to get up at 6 in the morning in the coldest part of the year and walk to the bus,” she said. “But I’ll probably still volunteer at the Capitol.” Lynn Bartels, The Denver Post
