One of the most intriguing events of the Olympics will be held today — weather permitting. The story of the men’s downhill could be that of Switzerland ending a long gold medal drought. A Swiss man has not won the Olympic downhill since 1988, but two are among the favorites here: Carlo Janka and Didier Cuche, who finished 1-2 at Beaver Creek in December. Cuche won two downhills this season, including the Hahnenkamm at Kitzbuehel, Austria. Janka also won last month at Wengen, Switzerland. But weather has wiped out every scheduled training run so far except one. Stand by with alternative programming.
