The so-called “Band-Aid Bandit” has been busted.
Richard Charles MacNeill, 46, of Aurora, was arrested Thursday, according to a media release from the Aurora Police Department.
MacNeill, who is on parole, is the Band Aid Bandit, police said.
Investigators suspect MacNeill in a series of robberies that occurred in Aurora starting in October and continuing through last week.
He’s accused of robbing a variety of stores and at least two banks.
On Wednesday night an Aurora police sergeant “spotted a vehicle that matched the basic description of a getaway vehicle police believed was used by the Band Aid Bandit during a recent robbery,” police said.
The vehicle led to MacNeill, police said.
The robberies included a bookstore, toy store, and two books, and the robber, who was captured on video surveillance in the bank robberies, was armed in at least six of the cases, police said.
Police nicknamed him the “Band Aid Bandit” because he was wearing a band-aid on his nose in some surveillance video.
