LINCOLN, Neb.—University of Nebraska regents have endorsed a $344 million arena in Lincoln that would become home to the Nebraska basketball teams.
The Board of Regents on Friday approved a memorandum of understanding that would move the basketball teams to the proposed arena, starting in September 2013.
Tentative plans for the West Haymarket arena call for the city and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to form a joint public agency to fund and oversee the project. The city would retain ownership.
Lincoln voters will be asked in May whether they’re willing to pay for the 16,000-seat venue to replace Pershing Center.
