DENVER—The Boulder Police Department has the most commissioned female supervisors in its history with the recent promotion of one officer to sergeant.

Officer Kristi Peterson was promoted last month, joining Sgts. Katie McEldowney, Melissa Kampf, Lauri Wegscheider and Janet Aguirre and Cmdr. Kim Stewart in leadership roles. Three of the four supervising sergeants on the overnight shift are women.

Forty-two of the department’s 171 commissioned officers are women, or almost 25 percent.
