A fire in a single-family home in Arvada was brought under control about 1:25 p.m. today, about 20 minutes after a neighbor reported smoke.
Arvada firefighters responded to the blaze at 8042 Lee Court shortly after 1 p.m., according to Scott Pribble, spokesman for the Arvada Fire Department.
Pribble said the fire was confined primarily to the basement of the 1980s-era home, but there was heavy smoke and water damage to the first and second floors.
Pribble said no one was at home, although homeowners have since been notified. Two dogs and a cat died in the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
About 25 firefighters responded, he said.
