American speedskating star Apolo Anton Ohno already has won a medal at these Olympics, crossing the finish line in second place in the 1,500-meter event in short track when two South Koreans took each other out in a crash on the final turn. That was Ohno’s sixth career medal, tying Bonnie Blair for the U.S. Winter Games record. He won’t have a chance to surpass Blair today, but he will skate in the 1,000 heats and the 5,000 relay semifinals. The final for the 1,000 is Saturday, and the relay final is next week. Ohno has two medals of each color, surpassing Eric Heiden as the most decorated American male at the Winter Games. He also has earned the most short- track medals since the sport joined the Olympics in 1992.
