RAWLINS, Wyo. — The Sinclair Wyoming Refining Co. says two releases of sulfur dioxide in 2009 were due to careless operations.
The company detailed the incidents in documents submitted to the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality’s air-quality division.
The documents said a flare at the refinery released an estimated 5.1 tons of sulfur dioxide May 31 after a valve was left open. Another sulfur-dioxide release occurred Dec. 8.
