The Regional Transportation District’s board of directors approved two possible FasTracks budgets Tuesday night.
Both are based on voters’ approval of doubling the current 0.4-percent sales tax in order to complete the $6.7 billion transportation project.
If a tax hike is approved this November, FasTracks development would be complete by 2017. The other option assumes a passing vote for the tax hike in 2012 and FasTracks completion in 2019.
Failure to approve a tax increase could push FasTracks completion to 2040. The RTD board plans to decide in April when to put the tax increase to voters.
Additionally, the RTD board scrapped the moving walkways originally planned for the Union Station renovation on a vote of 10-3 that approved changes to the project.
