DURANGO, Colo.—Fort Lewis College is celebrating the official opening of its new biology and agriculture wing.
The $17 million building was being dedicated Friday. With more than 33,000 square feet, it is almost three times larger than the old wing it is replacing.
The state set aside money for the new wing in 2000, but an economic downturn put the project on hold. Then in late 2008, a freeze on capital spending threatened to halt the project again, but the governor’s office later announced funding would be made available.
The school says biology is one of its most popular degrees.
