Cole Chapleski of Broomfield High School is Colorado’s Gatorade boys soccer player of the year, the company and ESPN Rise announced Thursday. He is a candidate for national honors, to be announced in May.
Chapleski had 21 goals and 17 assists for the Eagles in leading them to the Class 4A semifinals.
Hamley back with Mammoth.
Former National Lacrosse League coach of the year Bob Hamley is returning to the Colorado Mammoth to be an assistant under coach/general manager Steve Govett.
Hamley was an assistant with the Mammoth for part of 2008 before taking the head coaching job with Edmonton.
Artemev featured at DU meet.
Olympic bronze medalist Alexander “Sasha” Artemev will be the guest of honor at the University of Denver’s Burnsley Invitational tonight, signing autographs before the women’s gymnastics meet from 5 to 6 p.m. and handing out awards to the athletes after the meet.
DU, ranked No. 18, hosts Boise State, Southeast Missouri State and Seattle Pacific at 7 p.m. at Hamilton Gymnasium.
Jackson signs with Wake.
Tyler Jackson, a running back at Kent Denver, will attend Wake Forest next fall. Jackson, 6-feet-1, 195 pounds, rolled to 2,722 yards rushing and 32 touchdowns the past season. He was Class 2A first team all-state by The Denver Post and the classification’s player of the year.
He led the Sun Devils to the championship game that they lost 21-0 to Faith Christian.
