ASPEN, Colo.—The Aspen Daily News reports that an avalanche that partially buried a ski patroller was triggered by two skiers who ducked a rope and entered a closed area at Aspen Highlands.

The patroller extricated himself from the slide Sunday and wasn’t hurt. The skiers left, and resort officials weren’t able to find them.

Parts of the resort received more than a foot of new snow over the weekend.
