Getting your player ready...

Ace Young, the Denverite who almost made it to the “American Idol” big time, is headed to the Great White Way, starring as Berger in the Broadway revival of “Hair.” He opens in the production March 9 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The current cast heads to London to open there April 14.

Young, 29, has done a lot of things since he was kicked to the curb, coming in seventh on “American Idol” in 2006. He has performed at the Pepsi Center, sung the national anthem at games for the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Crush, let it rip at the Jerry Lewis Telethon and was named one of People magazine’s hottest bachelors.

But playing Berger on Broadway, now that’s something. He talks about it on a video on .

“Just last week, I was doing the ‘Grease’ tour as Danny Zuko,” he says. Then the producers told him to try out for the replacement cast of “Hair.” And he got it. Berger dies in the movie but lives in the play, so Ace will live another day.

“It’s an opportunity for me, career- wise, that you can’t find anywhere,” he says. “I am very enthusiastic.”

Can you keep a secret?

“Secrets of Aspen” came to a welcome halt Sunday night after eight gruesome episodes.

The villainous Laura left open the possibility that she could be back for the ski season — when she is really bad — scaring this viewer into thinking the show might actually return. Candice Ashton at VH-1 and Jim Berger at local production company High Noon Entertainment declined to comment. So we asked William Shakespeare for one:

“Out, out, brief cable show!

‘Secrets of Aspen’ is a walking shadow, a poor player,

That struts and frets 240 minutes upon the tube,

And then is heard no more. It is a tale

Told by seven idiots, full of sound and fury,

Signifying nothing.”
