A 10-month-old baby drowned in a bathtub in Longmont this morning, and police investigating evidence of drugs in the home at the time, police spokesman Tim Lewis said this afternoon.
Police aren’t disclosing what kind of drugs were found.
The 27-year-old mother was a guest in the home in the 400 block of Collyer Street, along with the infant and 2-year-old sibling.
The mother was frantic when she called police just after 11 a.m., Lewis said, and rescuers tried to save the child, which died at Longmont United Hospital.
During the course of events, police found the drugs in plain view.
The woman’s name has not been released, and police are investigating the drugs and the circumstances of the baby’s drowning, Lewis said.
