VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Vancouver police say “Growing Pains” actor Andrew Koenig has been found dead.
At a news conference in the downtown park where his body was found, police said foul play was not suspected, but they would not release a cause of death because the coroner is still investigating.
The actor’s father, Walter Koenig, said his son “took his own life.”
Walter Koenig, best known for playing Pavel Chekov on the original “Star Trek” television series, had said Wednesday that his son stopped taking antidepressant medication about a year ago and was “probably in a very depressed state.” Friends found the body about noon Thursday in a heavily wooded area. Koenig, 41, was visiting friends in Vancouver when he vanished more than a week ago.
