The 2010 Community Assets Fair will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mi Casa Resource Center, 360 Acoma St. in Denver.

Financial guidance will be offered in free workshops and clinics on a variety of financial topics including how credit reports can be ordered and understood, protection against identity theft, foreclosure prevention, financial aid and scholarships for education, bankruptcy, subsidized health insurance options, affordable housing opportunities, debt management, finance for small business and food assistance.

Taxpayers can also get their taxes done for free, but to qualify they must have earned less than $49,000 a year.

No appointments or reservations are necessary for the one-day fair that is sponsored by ColoradoSaves and is being held during America Saves week.

About 27 representatives from financial institutions, government agencies and nonprofit organizations including CollegeInvest, Mi Casa Resource Center, Colorado Housing Finance Authority,College in Colorado, IRS, Community Credit Counseling Services, Money Management,Inc., Americorps,Mile High Youth Corps,Medicaid/CHP and Habitat for Humanity are some of this year’s participants.

A raffle will be held for fair attendees who will get a chance to win a college scholarship, gift cards and refurbished desktop computers.
