STERLING — A former Logan County sheriff who was running for the job again was found dead Friday near his home.

The Sterling Police Department said family members found Robert Bollish, 60, on a remote section of his property, approximately 10 miles north of Sterling.

Investigators say Bollish died of an apparent gunshot wound.

The Sterling Journal Advocate reported Bollish had recently announced he would be petitioning for a place on the Republican primary ballot in the upcoming sheriff’s race.

Bollish served as Logan County sheriff from 1994 to 2006.

He also worked for 14 years with the Sterling Police Department prior to becoming sheriff. 9News
