A Summit County Sheriff’s van moving two prisoners was involved in a crash at Interstate 70 and Quebec Street about 2:20 p.m.
John White, spokesman for the Denver Police Department, said the van and a car apparently collided as they tried to merge into the same lane.
White said that none of the sheriff’s personnel or prisoners were injured in the van. He said the occupants of the car also escaped injury.
The vehicles were westbound on I-70 at the time of the accident, said White.
An employee of the Summit County Jail said they were aware of the collision but referred questions to a public information officer.
Tracy LeClair, spokeswoman for the Summit County Sheriff’s Department, said that a Summit County deputy sheriff was transporting two prisoners at the time.
LeClair said the mirrors on the side of the van and the car clipped each other causing damage to the mirrors.
That was the extent of the damage, said LeClair.
