Gatorade’s thirst for Tiger Woods has been quenched.

The PepsiCo people announced Friday that they “no longer see a role” for Woods in their marketing and have ended the two-year relationship. It becomes another in the growing list of companies that have cut ties with the world’s top-ranked golfer since his marital problems became known.

The companies that have stuck most closely by Woods — Nike Inc. and Electronic Arts Inc., which have invested specifically in his athleticism — reiterated their support last week when the golfer made his public apology.

PepsiCo did not say whether his contract was terminated early because of trouble with his public image, but they are going to continue supporting the Tiger Woods Foundation.
