BOULDER, Colo.—Five University of Colorado students studying in Chile have been accounted for following Saturday’s magnitude 8.8 earthquake.

University officials say three students are in Santiago and two are in Valparaiso. A sixth student who planned to travel to Chile on Sunday will wait until officials review the study program in Valparaiso.

CU officials were also trying to contact any faculty or graduate students who may have been at the Cornell Caltech Atacama Telescope, an observatory array east of San Pedro de Atacama in the high Andes region of northern Chile. CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard could not immediately provide a count of how many faculty or students may at the remote telescope.
