BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Kyle Lee scored in overtime and Brent Schwarz stopped 32 shots as Lewis-Palmer won its first state ice hockey title with a 3-2 victory over Ralston Valley at the 1stBank Center.
Lee, who also had an assist, rocketed a shot past Ralston Valley goalie Cody Buesser 2:21 into the extra period.
Lewis-Palmer (17-3-3), the No. 6 seed from Monument, won despite being outshot 34-10 and trailing 2-1 late in regulation.
Brandon Roseboro gave the Rangers life when he beat Buesser on the left side with 1:09 to play, and Lewis-Palmer carried the momentum into overtime.
Ralston Valley (18-4-1), the No. 4 seed from Arvada, tied the game 1-1 with a goal from Mitchell Pijanowski with 9:57 left and a power-play goal from Kyle Bennett nearly 6 minutes later.
Lewis-Palmer opened the scoring with Josh Cronk’s goal with 10:26 to play in the second period.
