Citing the design mantra “Everything you need and nothing you don’t,” American mountaineering guru Ed Viesturs zipped into the Eddie Bauer First Ascent Point Success Jacket (MSRP: $99) for successful climbs of Aconcagua and Everest last year. And why wouldn’t he? Viesturs spent a year and a half working with elite climbers such as Peter Whittaker and Dave Hahn to help design Bauer’s First Ascent Line aimed at mountaineers and skiers. (The company outfits ski and snowboard instructors at Steamboat Springs.) As a result, this versatile mid- or outer-layer demonstrates its range with Polartec Wind Pro on the torso for superior wind rdesistance from traditional fleece and Polartec Power Stretch on the side panels for increased range of motion. Breathable and moisture-wicking, this insulating fleece has three functional, zippered pockets and an athletic cut to minimize bulk. Tall sizing is available.
